Yesterday, we took the kids to see Santa at the library. They had a great time. Alex even got to miss school to go! (I decided that if Douglas County can cancel school for no good reason, then I can too!) Santa answered questions and told a story. Then the kids got to sit on his lap and tell him what they wanted. Alex: Hot Wheels. Emelia: M&Ms. Naomi: wouldn't go near Santa even though she loved every minute of his story. Merry Christmas!

Happy Halloween!

Yea for Halloween! We went trick-or-treating twice and ate our weight in candy this weekend. Hope you had a much fun as we did! The kids had a grand time dressing up and so did I. However, I am not as cute as they are, so I am not in any of the pictures.
Here they are before we went to Boo at the Zoo! (Alex is a zombie, in case you were wondering. I hope that the girls' costumes are more obvious.)
Alex and Naomi loved seeing the animals while getting candy. Can life get better?
Alex was the only one who wanted a picture with the amazing carved pumpkins that were all over the zoo!
I know, right? Couldn't you just eat her up?
Emelia made a great Super Girl. While we were at the zoo, we saw a man in a perfect Super Man costume. They looked like perfect twins. Emelia was in awe of him (but probably also wondered why a grown man was wearing a costume that was clearly supposed to be for little girls).
On Monday, Alex had a party at school and the girls went to a party at the library. Alex went as a magician and had a grand time. He also came home with more candy. Since we have had candy with every meal and snack since lunch on Saturday, I threw away the remaining pieces today. As evidence of how much candy they have had, the kids were surprisingly okay with this turn of events. Happy Halloween from the Salazars!

Seriously?

So, Naomi has been learning her letters. I thought she was doing pretty well. She certainly gets excited when I ask her to point out letters in books and on signs. She also has the cutest way of saying, "Naomi is for N." It brings a smile to my face just to think about it! But today, she outdid herself. While I was checking my email, she came into the kitchen with a piece of paper and a crayon. She had written several E's on the paper which she wanted to show me. When I asked to write other letters, she happily (and fairly accurately) wrote an i, a, c and n. Seriously? Whose child is this? (I'm just a little proud to say that she's mine!)

School pictures!

Thought you might like to see these. There's nothing quite like a classic school picture. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Birthday Girls!

Today is Emelia and Naomi's 3rd birthday! It is crazy how fast time flies! They are so darn cute- I just love them to bits. Here are a few pics of their party, their birthday and a few gifts.
When did my kids get so grown up?
My little Curly Sue!
We used sponge rollers to curl Naomi's hair. She loved it, but the curls only stayed for a few hours. Oh well!
Sweet sisters!
This is the owl cake the girls requested. I think I am officially converted to cupcake cakes. Easy, fast, fun for everyone! We had a great time at the party!
Tonight, we are going to have a special dinner and then Ben has to go to an internship meeting and I have to go to a Relief Society activity. The kids get to go to the nursery. (Sometimes birthdays are just days, I guess!)

Alex's First Day of School

Alex started school last week! He loves kindergarten and is making good friends. The girls and I are getting some quality time together. Emelia and I cried when he got on the bus without us. But, his excitement about school is infectious and we are all enjoying having Alex in school.

Quotes I love

Oh my gosh- two year olds say the funniest things! Here are a few of my recent favorites: Emelia: Can we go to Christmas? Naomi: Can we go to Aunt Janelle's birthday? Emelia: Princesses like skirts! Naomi: But I went potty yesterday! Hope they brighten your day as much as they brighten mine!

Easter pictures

It took me forever to get these posted because I have been potty training my youngest child. (Yes, she's the youngest by 45 seconds, but so what?) Yea hooray for no more diapers!! Three potty trained children is just about the best thing ever!
But the main point of this post is not to brag about not having to buy diapers and the huge grin that puts on my face. The main point of this post is to brag about how cute my kids look in their Easter outfits. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the bragging for me. Happy spring!

(Naomi took this last picture- cute, eh?)

Happy Birthday Alex!

Today is Alex's fifth birthday! Last night we had a party at Chuck E. Cheese's (is there anywhere else to have a birthday party?). Here are a few pics of the party and the cakes (yes, cakes!) and the birthday boy.

Today has been spent opening and playing with all of Alex's presents. This means that we watched Tangled during breakfast, played Candyland, Connect4 and Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em robots all at once, and played Play-Doh. We still have to put the glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling. It's too cold to go roller skating, so we'll have to wait 'til Friday.

Tonight we are having meatballs and spaghetti for dinner. When I suggested that we have spaghetti and meatballs for his birthday dinner, Alex replied, "No, I want meatballs and spaghetti." Who could say no to that?

Happy Birthday, Alex!
